Our Story

Miandu is the heartfelt, love-inspired, jewel-based, meaningful gift creator for the modern woman who wants to send tangible embraces to loved ones anywhere in the world, to nurture the bonds of family or friendships at any distance. 

The inspiration for Miandu came, as inspiration often does, from the sorrows of an artistic mind and her creative hands.

Judith Nanasi, founder of Miandu, uprooted her life when she moved to Canada, leaving behind the deep roots of her family and friends in Germany. 

In missing them and seeking to find new ways to connect with her loved ones, she began to create small tokens of her love to express in tangible ways the high place these relationships held in her heart and thoughts, even from a great distance.

Jewelry has been the medium of conveying the deepest expressions of our love for our most cherished relationships since time immemorial, so using this medium to express love and share meaningful moments was a natural fit for the creatively inclined Judith. 

Now Miandu is for everyone who desires to connect in deeper ways with loved ones near or far - to gift an expression of love that creates a beautiful memory shared, nurtures the relationship bond, and lives on.

Our Purpose

Miandu is the creation of Judith Nanasi, who moved from her native Germany to Canada – Yes, for love!

Leaving loved ones is never easy, but Judith found that by creating and sharing small gifts she could show how important her friends and family were. 

From the early expression of her love for far away loved ones in a tangible token, Miandu was born to give others in similar situations the same ability to nurture relationships through meaningful moments and tokens. 

All Miandu designs are inspired by, and made for, real stories about real people.

Miandu purposes to create jewel-based from-the-heart gifts that build closeness between the giver and the receiver across any distance - from a mother-daughter relationship in the same home to a friendship across the ocean - a thoughtful, love-inspired gift to build moments that become memories and give care to the bond for it to grow.

Meet Judith

When I came to Canada, I realized how meaningful little gifts can be. I really missed my family and friends back home in Germany, and creating something very personal helped in keeping each other close, even if we were living on different continents.

Miandu comes from the two words, ‘me’ and ‘you’, and it was formed by the idea of sharing something, being connected no matter where you are, and of creating little precious moments together that will live on through that piece of jewelry that has been shared between two loved ones.

I love designing, and making the pieces for my designs. Every piece I design is inspired from my own life and I’ve laboured over every tiny detail of it until it expresses exactly what it should express.  My own hands have shaped every delicate line. 

That the words I’ve written and the jewelry pieces I’ve handmade will be lovingly gifted and worn by people who will feel as connected by them as I do is the most wonderful feeling I can imagine.  It gives me a brand new avenue of inspiration for new designs that showcase the depth of connection between loved ones near and far.
